Goetland Stainless Steel WWII US Military Canteen Kit 1QT with 0.5QT Cup Nylon Cover G.I.

The reviews on this canteen set were pretty good and it looked like a quality product. The materials are of very good quality. The cup and the canteen appear to be very well made. I have not been out in the field with it yet, but here is what I can share so far.As noted in another review, the belt clips are too low on the canteen pouch. This will cause the canteen to fall away from you and hang at a funny angle - not straight up. The belt clips also float toward the center of the pouch with a full canteen, when attached top the belt. This further exacerbates the problem with the canteen not hanging straight and close to the web belt.One pouch cover flap is attached to the other flap with hook and loop. I pulled the strap that holds the other cover flap to the pouch body with a snap, and the snap broke apart.I will keep the canteen and cup, and write off the pouch as a loss. I already discarded the box so I figured I was out of luck to return it.

Great quality cup and canteen. Only titanium could be better. Unfortunately canteen cover (pouch) is very poorly made, has now furry lining, no front pocket for water purification tablets and both Alice clips are of poor quality steel. I already tossed mine away. The belt loops are sewn towards canteen bottom & asymetrical, instead of being closer to the top. Simply impossible to wear on a belt. It would tip over and you will loose your canteen somewhere in the bush for sure. This canteen cover is oversize and more resembles a respirator pouch recycled for canteen use. This canteen has a wider neck opening compared to the traditional GI-issue and a Vestergaard water purification lifestraw fits in nicely. So if you like the canteen, make arrangements on the side to buy a suitable pouch.

I have lots experience with canteens from boy scouts, being a survival trainer and the Army. This is one top notch canteen for the price. It has the same quality that other canteens that go for $100 have. There is one catch though and that is the machining oil inside the canteen was left behind so you have to use a toothbrush and dawn dish soap to get it out. The features of the canteen include a stainless steel canteen and cup.

Cover fastener tore off on the very first time it was opened. This product is junk.

The handle on the cup copies the WW2 design but is a bit weak and flexible. I wouldn't trust it with boiling water or soup. Nicely manufactured. Canteen and cup match perfectly. I'll have to find a way to replace or fortify the cup handle. The nylon jacket fits well but does not match the original cotton duct. A bit spendy but cheaper than an original on eBay.

So durable!! I beat the crap out of it and it works well. Keeps liquids cold for a long time if you protect it right. For example, I fill it up with cold water on my way into work. I throw it on the floor for something to drink on my way home. Out of the sunlight, it stays cool. I get in my vehicle and it's still nice and cool 8 hours later!!

This Canteen is excellent. AFTER WASHING IT INSIDE WITH DISHSOAP AND USING AND WASHING INSIDE AGAIN A COUPLE TIMES THE TASTE OF METAL IS TOTALLY GONE AND ITS JUST LIKE DRINKING FROM A CERAMIC COFFEE MUG. No metal taste. It is made out of surprisingly thick steel. I think it will last for a long time. Hopefully the plastic cap will last a long time too and perhaps then will have replacements buy the time it does finally crack.

Well made to last a lifetime. The cup fits well and the overall design is flawless. The stainless steel is far superior to the aluminum brands for both product longevity and human health issues. Think about purifying water by boiling it in either aluminum or steel... we'll take steel every time. The thin, non-insulated case is it's one weak point, but it will suffice and get the job done.

Fairly sure stainless steel is magnetic. Neither the bottle or the cup attract a magnet. They both look and feel like aluminium, which has left me very disappointed as this was supposed to be an upgrade to the aluminium set I already have and wanted to upgrade from. And it's not as described or sold.

Its very well made i remember my plastic TA issued one and this is far better. Easy to attach to a belt or bag and very hardy. Remember that in bushcraft or on your travels plastic simply doesnt do the job especially if you're wanting to brew tea, coffee or food straight off your campfire. This features a perfect mug with a collapsable handle and all is made of high quality stainless steel. The bag attatchment is awesome as it will help the bottle last longer and help keep it clean. My favourite part, other than how bushcraft proffessional it looks, is the sturdy lid chain which means you wont ever lose the lid whilst hiking etc. This is hands down quality for money as this style lasts for decades, that tends to be what military gear is crafted for. Brilliant piece of gear and a lot of uses. Thankyou very much sellers it came within days and is brand new. Love this

Would be better if the screw top was metal not plastic and the chain attachment was stronger.

Top quality kit. Very solidly made and excellent standard of finish. The bottle is clean and the cap gives a water-tight seal. The mug is solid but boil time on a hexamine stove was still quick and both outside and in cleaned easily after use. the pouch seems well made and holds the bottle and mug with enough room over for some filter cones and purification tabs. Good value for the price.

Bigger than I expected (I'm british so don't have a strong mental picture of how big a 'quart' is).Feels sturdy, doesn't leak. Loses a star for the bag being a bit... Baggy.It doesn't seem poorly constructed, just a bit too big for the canteen and has a weird way of opening and closing.Will replace. Mostly because it isn't black and I like me some goth.Overall, though, a nice canteen.

Really happy with this water container and bought a second one. What was received is as shown in the photos. Someone commented that it’s not stainless steel because it’s not magnetic, however, I did a little research to discover that not all steel is magnetic. Stainless steel is embossed on the bottom of the bottle as seen in the photos

Solid product. Stainless steel rather than cheap aluminium. So far doing a great job and the cup has been used for cooking on the go. Make sure you clean and degrease it fully before use as there is a protective grease layer inside. Only worry is that the lid might crack over time and I'm not sure where to get a replacement.Let's get this out onto a tray. Nice

Stainless can't go wrong, light and tough, better ones out there but for the money it's worth it, I teach bushcraft and use it daily it's a good one.

I would have given 5 stars if it actually had the logo stamped on the bottom for Goetland as shown in the picture, however it does not, so could of come from anywhere, although the quality is good i must say, hence 4 stars

Very robust and will last a very long time I think.

Awesome water tastes like water clean looks cool not tried the other thing on heat worried if I break the lid but all good so far
