Load ROMs from the Internet, never be bored again!
The build quality is fine and the unit does not creak - it feels reasonably solid in the hand. The screen is plastic and very easy to scratch - I trimmed and applied an extra smartphone screen protector I had laying around (after removing the plastic cling designed to protect the product's screen in transit) and have had no further problems with scratching. Here's where this unit really shines: if you look around on the Internet, you can source the .bin files (also called ROMs) of Sega Genesis games! Get yourself an inexpensive SD card, create a folder on it called "GAME", and load the .bin files and this unit can read and play the majority of them! (It cannot play certain files like 32x files and a few games are simply incompatible for whatever reason.) I literally have 950+ games loaded on my unit! I can't ever hope to play all of them and this means I have something new and fresh to explore wherever I go! Important note: format and load your SD card on a PC, not on a Macintosh. My hypothesis is the Mac creates some hidden system files and this causes weirdness such as games not being in alphabetical order, blank lines between games in the menus, and other unpredictable results. I have a 4 GB SD card and most of it is still empty even after loading nearly a thousand games - these ROM files are tiny by today's standards!Nitpicks: the built-in speaker sounds tinny. Workarounds: 1) just deal with it, this is an inexpensive product who's main selling point is portability, or 2) plug in headphones or external speakers - all the bass and rich sound is there in the game soundtracks, it's just the tinny built in speaker does not do them justice!Hope this helps! Enjoy! :o)~james

Fun Retro Portable Game System
I just received this and here is my observations, In my opinion...Pros:Small size fits into my front pocket easily.Screen is bright and the games look very nice.Comes with some really nice Genesis games pre-loaded.The solid D-Pad is easy on the thumb and the six buttons are laid out well.Has a slot that you can add more games via a SD card.Volume wheel instead of buttons, makes it easy to turn up/down volume quickly.Headphone jack.Good battery life (played it for over three hours , out of the box, before charging for the first time).Cons:Size. I listed it as a Pro, but someone with large hands might find it too small (it's smaller in person than you might imagine). No save game option. The emulator chip produces sub-standard game sounds/music.The speaker is too small and adds to the poor sound emulation.Button response time could be better (to be expected with digital)Only comes with a USB charging cable, which took a good amount of time to fully recharge the unit.Bottom Line:The games look good on the small screen and the unit is small enough to fit into your front pocket. I already added over 900 additional game titles, via a SD card, within the first 24 hours. I found that using earbuds/headphones will improve the sound somewhat (not as good as the original games, but better than through that tiny speaker on the unit). The games are really fun and my only complaint I have is I forgot how to play most of them after all these years (all those special combos will have to be relearned, lol). Overall, this is a nice little Genesis emulator that is ready to go right out of the box. There are some cons that you'll have to consider, but I think they could be overlooked if you know about them before making a decision to purchase. This system represents a lot of fun to be had for the price of entry. My kids are begging me to use it, even though they have nice tablets and all the new tech toys / modern video games.. so it goes to show that these oldies but goodies still are fun ... for all ages! ;)

Perfect system.
This is even better than an older version I had. This unit came with all 3 Mortal Combat games which makes it a lot better. There seems to be some games not included that were on my older version but all the fun games are still available. I find this an amazing game system for kids with all the choices available. It holds a charge for a long time as I used it on an 8 hour flight without it dying. The colors are great and so is the sound. The only knock is it comes in a huge box for no reason and only comes with a USB link for recharging. As a fan of these games I'm happy to have all the Sonics, the lame Echo the Dolphin series, Altered Beast, Ristar, Kid Camelion, etc. all the tip of my fingers.

Games aren't exact replicas of the originals.
The games are not exact replicas of the originals. Sound tracks are off and you can't save games. The sound quality is awful. My hands cramp badly playing this - and I have really tiny hands.SDHC SD cards are not supported. The SD card can't be larger than 2GB and it has to be FAT16.It's fun enough, but I wouldn't pay more than $30 for this thing.

Small screen but fun gameplay, output to composite TV a plus.
The games are just as enjoyable (or frustrating) as I remember them. The small screen is a drawback, the ability to plug it into a tv (at least one that accepts a composite input) is a big plus. In hindsight I probably would have opted for the console equivalent. I knew going in that I wouldn't be able to save games, but I forgot how many games did not have that "endless continue" option in the early days of arcade. I do worry down the line that if the all-in-one unit/controller develops a problem that I'm stuck for it, but for less than $50, it's by and large a consumable at that point. --Not to say I won't be unhappy if the games play but the joystick doesn't!

Missing power cord
This was missing the power cord and as its way older was a task finding a replacement.
