Excellent instructions and grows in pretty rugged soil
I picked this bag up as I had been recommended a certain type of lawn seed from a website. It wasn’t this one but it was from the same supplier. I chose this one due to the different varieties of grass in the bag. They meant nothing to me but I felt like I’d have more chance of getting something to grow with a greater variety. Also a more hard wearing grass was preferred as this is the front lawn and likely to get a lot of traffic across it.First impression of the bag, was well it’s a bag of grass seed. However it came with a very detailed set of instructions which I followed as best I could. The specific tip about weighing out as much seed as would fit in a 2x2m square area to gauge coverage was helpful.I didn’t have any fancy tools nor did I have a spreader and so that might explain the patches in the pictures. The soil here was rock hard and riddled with roots from an overgrown hedge I took down. There was chalk in the soil where builders had been using the front lawn as a dumping ground for rubble.I forked the soil over and tried to remove as much chalk and big stones as I could and then finished it with about an inch of topsoil. Nothing special, just reclaimed soil from the local sugar factory washing sugar beat.Went over the soil with a fine spring rake just to break up some of the lumps and then hand sowed the seed. Admittedly this was a bit irregular and would explain the patches. I then raked this in lightly with the same rake so that the seed was mostly below the surface. I didn’t see many birds munching on the seed so that was good.I watered it every evening for 6 days before I saw the first blades appearing.2 weeks later after a lot of heavy rain and good sunshine the image taken from the upstairs window is how the lawn looks. It is about 2 inches tall and has good coverage for the most part. The patches aren’t so much patches but just areas where the seed is a little behind. There is grass there it is just smaller than the areas around it.I will probably leave it another week before I trim it, as per instructions contained in the box. I will post more pictures when the grass has filled out again.

FAST GROWING
Needed some grass seed for covering my old vegie plot. Prepped the ground, scattered the seed, and within 10 days the first blades of grass started to show.Wasn't long before I was mowing my new, healthy looking grass. Some of the best grass seed I have ever used.

Really good quality seeds.
It has been a hard work which took 5 weeks in totals from start till the last pictures. My old lawn was not in great shape, loads of moss, weeds and uneven ground.1st step.. moss and weed killer applied and left for two weeks.Step 2: Heavy scarification followed by lawn airiation.Step 3: Loads of top soil to level the lown.Step 4: Applied seeds with pre seed fertilizer (which I bought from Boston seeds company)Step 5: top dressed with Jacks magic top soil.Step 6: kept watering for 3 to 8 times a day, idea is to keep the soil moist all the times for a better germination rate. We had hot weather for like 3-4 weeks on a bounce so my water bill hit like 100 quid totals, but the end result is... grass that looks very nice:) I can see mixture of different type grass in them which is great. Still got about 1kg left maybe in September or October to lightly scarify and overseed again, not that it needs lol.I will be buying again same seeds next year for sure.Btw I hung about 22 CDs but it did not stop birds to help themselves. I would cover seeds with fleece next year.If your lawn requires leveling like mine, I highly recommend to avoid spending money for expensive gear.. instead get a smaller pallet and drag around and it will perfectly flatten your lawn.

A slow burn, but worth it! Progress pics over 12 weeks attached.
Well, it took THREE MONTHS in 2020 with the dry and hot weather down here in London… but the grass eventually grew! Honestly, 3 months in and after twice-daily watering, its coming through thick now. Beautiful rich colour.Hellish amount of work (not the seeds’ fault) to dig up the entire plot of soil, level the lot, seed and then water for a long time. I honestly didn’t see a single blade of grass for about 4 weeks but gradually its thickening out. Mowing it a couple of weeks ago seems to have really encouraged it to thicken up. Next step is to put weed killer down in a couple of weeks. I don’t want to damage the new lawn after all the hard work.Progress pics attached. Started in March and the latest pics are today in June. Sorry if the orientation is wrong. Amazon’s app seems to rotate my photos inexplicably.Hope this helps others who may be starting to despair after a few weeks of nothing. Stick with it, make sure the soil is always wet. Best thing about it is the colour I think. Its mega lush. I used to be jealous of the neighbours lawn but ours is way more appealing to look at now! So yeah… weather the storm (or drought in my case).
