I am often told by strangers how much they like it
It did happen today again. It reminded me that I should write a nice review about this jacket. A lady in the local bank said :"What a beautiful jacket." I was not surprised, because that happened several times ago as well. I have never had receive comments like that about my plenty of other jackets throughout my life. I have this jacket for a while and originally bought it from kind of like sentimentality. I used to work for the United States international radio as a journalist. The jacket is really cool according to the comments I received, also very elegant, and has a lot of pockets. When I got it I considered some of the pockets little weird, almost like outdated. There is no obvious pocket for a common size smartphone, but you can use at least two of them for such a purpose. If you do not mind that, get it. Also make sure that you fully close the zippers on the shoulder side of the sleeves if wearing it as the jacket. If you do not, sleeves can come of, because you can use this jacket also as a vest.

A huge functional improvement over the original bush jacket
I purchased my Correspondent Jacket a couple years ago after I saw it was being sold by National Geographic after finding the same thing on Amazon. I only recently started wearing it because I wanted better pockets than those offered by my denim jacket. I had no trouble with the large fit. I have noticed for many types of jackets that the people having trouble with fit are those in the XL range so I didn’t find the complaints about the Correspondent XL unusual. The jacket has a crisp feel due to the nylon in it. It feels warmer than a normal bush jacket. I like all the pockets but the jacket was designed before people started carrying oversized cell phones so I could only find 2 pockets in the waist area that could carry one. I have yet to decide what to carry in all the extra pockets beyond the 4 that I currently use. The pen holders in the chest area are a nice innovation which isn’t readily obvious in the photo of the jacket in the ad.

Order one size larger than you think, great jacket!
I bought this for a trip to the UK because of the zip pockets for passport etc. I usually wear XL but ordered XXL after reading reviews, a good call as it was perfect. Many pockets that close so you can't lose or get picked. A little funny feeling on the material at first but it broke in fine and it did what I needed it too. Great travel jacket, also kept me dry when it rained.

Review
Just received so a little early to review. I purchased to wear on a trip to Europe. The reason was I wanted a convertible lightweight jacket with extra pockets. I’ll update upon my return.

Great Product That Works For My Travel Needs
This coat, I call it a coat because it is longer than my Weekender Jacket, works great for me. If I wear a long sleeve shirt, this coat keeps me comfortable in temperatures as low as the high 30's. If I wear a short sleeve shirt, this coat keeps me comfortable in temperatures ranging from the high 40's to the high 60's. When it gets warmer, into the 70's, 80's and 90's, I wear one of my three Weekender vests so as to be able to carry more of what I choose to carry and can't comfortably carry in the pockets of light weight shorts. The Weekender people really do know how to use fabrics and designs to keep me comfortable in temperatures ranging from the high 30's to the high 90's. The pockets really are great, especially when traveling, especially by air.

Good Buy
I have worn the jacket on trips for the last two years. The jacket fits perfectly. Usually the large jackets and shirts I buy are an inch or two too long in the arms, but this fits well. Material and stitching are of good quality. It is easy to remove and re-attach the sleeves. The variety of pockets and their placement could be better thought out. It seems that some of the pockets are just placed here and there, more for show than for function. Many are just not usable. I recommend they add several more large inner pockets so I could stuff things in. I also recommend the designers look at the 511 Tactical series vest for pocket ideas.

It would be nice to have a hood
Seems to be well-made. This is the 3d jacket of this type I have owned. I have some suggestions. It would be nice to have a hood, either snap-on or built into the collar. The sleeves should have a dedicated pocket -- if you are a packrat like me, the available pockets quickly fill up. The jacket should have more interior pockets. And, bellows on the pockets would be nice. These points add up to a reduction of one star for me. They may be more important for you. All in all, I would recommend it, subject to further evaluation after I have worn it more.

so many pockets!
this jacket is very versatile with so many pockets that I am not sure I have found them all yet! I lug around a lot of camera gear and the outside pockets are large enough for extra lenses. I was pleased to find that there are zipped pockets on the inside for valuables, money and passports, and also a large pocket on the inside of the jacket to fit my iPad! (as well as the pocket for my iPhone and iPod, etc....) The back of the jacket is easily adjustable at the waistline (not mentioned in the product description...) and that makes it very comfortable to wear. The sleeves zip on and off easily (I would compare the difficulty to my zip off hiking pants) and can easily be removed by a friend/companion while wearing the jacket and stuffed in a pocket. A very good purchase and a good value.
