jumanji Pocket Book – June 7, 2012

Read carefully. I didn't pay attention to the fact that this is written in French.

Chris Van Allsburg did such a wonderful job of creating a book such as Jumanji. Growing up with this book, it brings a lot of memories when anticipating what the next "game move" was going to be and what crazy animal was going to pop up next. This book is about a young boy and girl, Peter and Judy, who find a "board game" in the park. Little did they know that this was no ordinary board game, and that they would soon be playing for their lives. While monkey's rampage their kitchen and great floods drown their hallways, this book is filled with exciting and nail biting pages. The illustrations used in this book really set the mood and tone using a black and white color spectrum. This type of artistic style in my opinion creates a bold and justifying tone for the book. It really shadows the characters and their significance in certain moments of this book. I would recommend this book for a children's audience from 2nd grade and up due to the images and language used; May scare off some little ones.

I homeschool my kids and I wanted to get several books that also have movies for them to compare and contrast and do graphic organizers (Venn Diagram). My daughter read the book in an hour and then immediately wanted to see the movie. She loved both and immediately picked up on the similarities and differences. It was a fun read for her...She is 9. My son is 4 and loved the movie and the pictures in the book as well!

French! What a disappointment when selecting the book for third graders who speak English!

This book is wonderfull! I think its great for all ages especially the younger one's. They're imaginations are always going 100 miles an hour being creative and fantasizing over magic and wanting unrealistic things to happen when they can't. Well here it is! Jumanjii is about a board game that ends up happening in real life depending on what is rolled and what the cards say. Kids will think this is cool and will spike their imaginations about this book especially when they see they movie and how awesome it was. Just seeing my 8 years old sister's expression was just hilarious. Now she hopes other board games such as candy land will come to live. This is definitely modern fantasy at its best!

Don't make my mistake. This is a French version so If u are looking for English this isn't the one for you

Voici un album que j’ai utilisé avec ma classe. Petit et très facile à lire. Les élèves ont adoré l’histoire. Nous avons clôturé notre séquence avec le vision âge du film (le vieux hein!) c’était top.

Ho preso questo libro perché serviva a mio figlio per la scuola ma verso la fine diverse pagine sono rimaste in bianco e questo ha reso il libro inutilizzabile.Le pagine in bianco sono le 18-19, 22-23, 26-27 e 30-31.Purtroppo non lo posso più restituire perché appunto essendo per la scuola l’ho plastificato.

This book was in French, it should have been indicated next to the title. I have never once purchased anything from amazon in French. That should have been a big tip off that perhaps I wanted the English version.

Du livre au film il y a en vérité un grand pas. Un film extraordinaire qui nous plonge dans un univers totalement fou d'une jungle incroyablement réaliste et le lion ...n'en parlons pas.Livre plus à découvrir comme un conte (au premier abord) et quelle histoire incroyable.
