Practical and Pretty!
I really wasnt sure what to expect with this product because it seemed new and I'd never heard of Mega Chef before. Ive used the tea kettle now a little over a half dozen times and been very happy with it. Boils the water fairly quickly. And looks pretty doing it. I like the blue light letting you know when its on. I wish the opening at the top was just a little bigger to make it easier to get your hand in there to really clean it but apart from that, no other cons with this item. A couple times Ive run out of burners on the stove and had to make a bit of pasta. The product really isnt made for this purpose but I threw in about half a handful of angel hair pasta broken in two into the kettle, added water and turned it on. The pasta was on the edge of being done once the water boiled. I just left it in there for a couple more minutes, dumped it into a strainer and wha-laa....perfect pasta without a pan or a stove. Ive also used it for ramen and even threw in some frozen broccoli. When the water boiled, everything was done. I dont know if this will cut down on the life of the product by doing this but so far it hasnt effected it. Its actually a much quicker way of cooking pasta instead of boiling on the stove. Could be great at camp or in an RV as well where everything needs to be multi functional.

Really bad design causes short appliance life
This is the second time the small plastic connectors at the top of the handle have broken away, rendering the pot useless. No matter how well it heats, if those tiny connectors separate from the rest of the handle, the pot is only fit for the trash can.I gave this pot a second chance by already buying a replacement glass carafe; not again. I'm off to search for a better designed electric tea pot.

UPDATE: chips off material into water!! - Great Kettle, 2 (small) Issues
Update: This kettle chips off the bottom coating and leaks it into the water!! It had started happening about a year after I purchased it and now (after almost 2 years of use) it's really bad; it makes the water cloudy after I tried to clean it & there's a TON of floaty material in the water. :( DO NOT RECOMMEND - IT'S NOT SAFE AT ALL!!!(The first pic is about a year after use, the second two years.)---This is a fantastic kettle, very stylish, clean-looking, glass (see-through & better than plastic). I've used it for about 6 months, and (almost) no issues with it. Water boils well, shuts off automatically when done, reasonably quick and reasonably quiet. The blue light is pretty :)My two (small) issues with this kettle are: 1) the lid doesn't open wide enough (or even better if it came off!) - this makes it very difficult for cleaning (my water leaves a lot of build up, so have to clean it at least once a week), and even tricky for filling (water faucet bumping against it). 2) The on/off and open/close buttons on the kettle should have been placed opposite... The open button is at the top, and the boil button is lower - this is just counterintuitive, as most of the time the kettle is closed and you just wanna hit the "on" button quickly in walking by (but hit the open button instead often). It's a minor issue, but is kinda annoying every time you open it instead of starting it - hope the manufacturer swaps out the location of the two functions in the next release.Everything else - this kettle is great!

Love the Blue LIght
My wife drinks tea on a daily basis so we need a new kettle every few years. This one has a cool look sitting on the counter. We wish we could keep the blue light on all the time. One thing about this tea kettle is, it is so quiet. With ones we have had in the past they would get louder and louder as the water approached boiling. With this one we have to pay attention or we forget we turned it on.

Simple and practical though somewhat flimsy electric tea kettle with an infuser
I bought this electric tea kettle with an infuser tube in order to make herbal teas at home. I got tired of boiling water in a saucepan in order to steep a herbal tea. This tea kettle serves that purpose well: it heats up water quickly and shuts itself off promptly after water has started to boil. It can bring a quart of water to a boiling point within mere five minutes. It need not be watched unlike a saucepan on an electric stove, which is rather convenient. Two practical comments on the design are worth being mentioned. One, the tea infuser should have been made longer, as in order to steep a coupe of tea, one need pour at least 16oz of water to submerge the bottom of the infuser. For a cup of team, it is a bit much. Two, the design is a bit flimsy inside where the infuser is attached to the lid. that plastic will not last long. Thus, after two months of daily use, I have got no problems with it so far. Other users commented that it may not last beyond one year of regular daily use.

Once in awhile, you stumble on a great deal....
This was a great score for $19.95 sale price. While the base plugs into the wall, the container itself is cordless. I holds one helluva lot of water. The base lights up when heating, and, after the water reaches an intense boiling level in a very short period of time, the light and power cut off. Easy to use and maintain. If you have a water softener, I don't see the scale becoming a problem. I am f English heritage on my grandmothers' side, and, on the evenings when she was babysitting me, i learned to drink tea. Let me amend that. I became addicted to tea. As a consequence, with the exception of the occasional Starbucks venti soy latte with whipped cream and a request to hold the foam (no indigestion with this drink regardless of quantity), I generally always have a pot of tea on hand. As efficient as the old tea kettle was/is, this device heats more quickly, and, more quietly.

Better than expected
I have only had this kettle a couple of days. So far it is just what I needed. It is really a good looking kettle. The blue light is an extra cool touch. I had a all steel kettle before, I very much like to see the bubbles forming and eyeing the water to where I like it. I also like, the flip top with the button and the circle in the center of the lid that is touch safe for closing the lid.Heats fast too. Good price. I would never spend more than $20 on something that boils water. This surpassed expectations. Also BPA free, which should be law in all products by now.

This electric kettle, took forever to heat up. ...
This electric kettle, took forever to heat up. The lid broke while lifting it gently to refill the kettle. The button to open it also broke. So not worth the purchase. We threw it out after 60 days.
