OXO Salad Spinner, 1 EA

Love this salad spinner!I already had one but I did not REALIZE that all I had to do, was push the side lock button inward to lock or outward to unlock inableing operation and ready for spin mode!!Me not knowing this little tid bit of information (I ended up breaking it trying to force the center push button up)!Well, I was like TARZAN OPENING A COCONUT BARE HANDEDLY!I RIPED THAT CENTER BUTTON THAT MAKES IT SPIN RIGHT OFF THE SPINNER!!!I know what your thinking...dahhh LADY ("why didn't you just read the dam directions")?Well, let me explainWhen I bought the first salad spinner after opening the box and placing the box on the floor, I had to walk outside to see what all the ruckus was in my driveway with my kids!Unbenounced to me, while I was on my side porch checking the kids...my dog Pickles, had taken the papers out of the box and hid them in his cage for a midnight snack I guess.So when I got back into the kitchen to see how this spinner operates... I said to myself... thats strange 🤔 There's no directions in this box to explain how to use this spinner?THE REST IS HISTORY! YES, I WAS DETERMINED TO GET THIS THING TO SPIN!!! So as I found myself with the center push button in one hand and the locking mechanism button, the spring, the cup shaped piece that was inside the spinner, and shattered pieces all over my kitchen, I thought to myself...There has to be an easier way to open this spinner cover without all these pieces all over my kitchen.At this point I gave up!!! Until........two days later; I was cleaning the pillows in my dogs cage...Thats when I found the directions for the salad spinner...a little chewed up but still legible enough to read.TODAY MY DOG IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE KITCHEN WHEN I RECEIVE PACKAGES!!!!I'M SHARING THIS EXPERIENCE WITH EVERYONE TO INFORM YOU THAT THIS SALAD SPINNER CAN BE BROKEN WHEN THERE ARE NO DIRECTIONS IN THE DAME BOX DUE TO YOUR LITTLE FUR BABY!! 🐾❗WE NEVER DID HAVE SALAD THAT NIGHT FOR DINNER!AND WHEN I TOLD MY HUSBOND I ORDERED ANOTHER SALAD SPINNER "HE STRIGHT OUT TOLD ME ... HONEY, ILL MAKE THE SALAD FROM NOW ON" AND I PROMISE... I'll NEVER UPSET YOU AGAIN 💪 I PROMISE!!!! 😉

I replaced an earlier model of this spinner also by OXO. If you make salads, rinsing and spinning any greens is the key to a fresh salad that will last. The interior basket is removable and like a plastic colander which could also be used to rinse fruit and vegetables without spinning. Easy to use and easy to clean. If you have never used this product, try it, you will be hooked.

I have wanted a salad spinner for a long time but wasn't sure what kind to get. On an episode of the 'Cook's Kitchen,' they recommended the OXO brand so I purchased this one through Amazon. I've used it a couple of times on romaine lettuce and it is very efficient. It doesn't get the lettuce completely dry but all you have to do is blot the excess with a paper towel. Before, I would have to use several dish towels to lay the wet leaves on, (taking up valuable counter space,) and waste a dozen or so paper towels blotting them off. Now I wash the lettuce, leave it in the same bowl, and keep it in the fridge for later use. The lettuce comes out very crisp, tastes much better than bagged lettuce, with much less waste!

I was a little reluctant to get this spinner as it was more expensive than many others (including the one i was replacing). I decided to get it because it was an OXO and I had never been disappointed by OXO products in the past. Glad I went for it. It works much better than my old one and is built better. I would note that, on mine, the top does come apart for cleaning (other reviewers indicated that theirs did not). Perhaps this is an improvement they have made on more recent models. Very satisfied!

I have a small vegetable garden but the quantities of lettuce, kale, and herbs that come out of it is large. I can pick into the plastic insert, rinse well in the sink, and spin dry and store with the plastic lid in the fridge. I used one for many years and it was in heavy use this summer due to good growing conditions and the spinner finally wore out. I bought another one and kept the first one just move the spinner from one to another. I often need to clean more while I haven't used up a previously cleaned batch of greens. So handy to gently but thoroughly spin dry.

I had an OXO salad spinner for years and years until we dropped the plastic bowl and cracked it. I decided to try out some cheaper salad spinner and none were as good - they were all smaller or felt flimsy or unstable when spinning. So, I spent a few more dollars and went with another OXO spinner. The new model is just as good as the old model I had. I highly recommend it. Just make sure you let the top fully dry before putting it away.
