I definitely love the "clack clack clack" sound the product makes. The only issue I have is that because the holes are not beveled, the nail head does not sit flush with the plate. I have to be careful walking across the carpets in my home because the "loops" in the carpet will "catch" on the heel plate. It's not that big of a deal but just something to be aware of. If it wasn't for that, I would have rated this product "5 Stars." However, I still recommend buying this product from this seller.

Works to protect heel plate

I really wanted to like these heel plates because I tend to wear out the outer corner of my boot heels. I even went so far as to bend them to fit perfectly to my boot which is a must (see pictures) but unfortunately these plates failed for two reasons.Firstly, they’re not designed for hard rubber boots but instead most likely designed for hard leather-soled shoes or boots. Hard rubber-soled boots move like a tire does when hitting the pavement causing damage from the edges of the metal plates to the rubber soles.Secondly, the screw heads wear down very, very quickly causing you to continuously replace the screws with more and more screws. In fact, I went through the entire packet of screws that came for three sets of heel savers on a single set of metal plates (I walk a lot of city streets).Definitely not worth the frustration of having to constantly replace the screws which required using needle-nosed pliers to pull out the screw shafts because the heads are worn off. I ultimately had to return them.Having said that, I’m inclined to think that if the heel savers came with hardened screws (grade 8?) they may actually work, as the screw heads would take a lot longer to wear down.

I love having metal taps on my boots. Not only does they protect them they also have a distinctive sound. When people hear them they always look down at my feet to see where the sound is coming from. I also used them on my garrison boots when I was in the military.

The design is very questionable. Why is the bottom side of the heel guard CONCAVE? If it were FLAT, it would lay better on most if not all footwear. I did not inspect/install the immediately thus I missed the return date.

sounds loud when walking

This should be used with softer soles. A hard sole will cause you to skip. Get installed by pro cobbler. Won’t come off easy
