ACME Thunderer 59.5 (Medium Thunderer)

Good quality

I carry this to blow if needed for personal security. I also give it to lady relatives for the same purpose. As an aside, I blew this in Sam's Warehouse, when no staffer would pay any attention to me in order verify to the robot cashier that I am an adult (I am in my 70s). It works well in getting customer service! ;)

I hope and pray this company stays in business. Handmade in England means you get top quality. I love these whistles. I have now taken extra steps to make SURE these do not get lost. Super loud ! Super tough!I know they will last decades because I still have my father's from 1950 ! I do NOT carry it. The Thunderer is the best value and best return for the price. INVEST in Acme !

the sound is actually high quality, came very shiny and is fairly bigger than most whistles

The whistle is small but still loud. It is NOT an official rugby size, but not bad to have in your kit as a backup.

This is not a cheap gumball machine whistle. No sir. This is the real deal, it's got some heft to it, it's extremely loud and makes me feel important. I've made it! I'm a teacher!

Acme Thunderer is the best!

When I was a much younger woman, I was the resident manager of a very nice apartment building and my husband I became close friends with a couple who lived across the courtyard swimming pool. There happened to be a series of daylight burglaries and rapes of female resident managers in the area and my friend bought one of these whistles for herself and one for me. She told me to never play with it because if either of us ever heard the whistle, which is shrill, we were to send or bring help immediately. That is the reason I rated it low on the fun scale, because I do not consider these to be toys. I put mine on my keyring and to this day I have never blown it except that one time when Susan and I both tested ours - almost 40 years ago. I bought these for my daughters and a couple extra for my duplicate keys. I hope they and I never have to use them, but I always keep my keys in my hand when I'm away from my automobile or riding my bike. No help if I have to dig in my purse to find my whistle!!
